Fascinating Facts
There are a number of reasons why a wine is consciously 'tasted' as opposed to just drunk. It will be continually assessed during its production, a professional will taste before buying, and judges at wine shows do so to consider its merit. If drinking at home or tasting for enjoyment there's no need to be 'analytically retentive' about the process; however by following a few simple rules and using the correct tools, more pleasure can be gained from the wine you drink. Since 1996 'The Taste of the Vine' has been giving people a greater understanding of wine tasting. They are a group of people with a wealth of knowledge gained from years in the wine industry. During an entertaining evening your host will take you through the appreciation of wine which encompasses more than just the function of tasting in the mouth. This only comes into play during the third of three stages that make up the process of tasting. The appearance and the smell or 'nose' of the wine will give as many clues as the actual taste when considering quality, origin, grape variety and age. You also learn about food and wine pairing, an important aspect of organising the perfect dinner party. Spending a few hours with The Taste of the Vine is a unique way to advance your knowledge of the grape.
